British Jewellery Week
16th - 30th June 2010
The thrill of spotting a talented young designer, providing the opportunity to promote or indeed buy from them, is one of the joys of either compiling or visiting an exhibition of contemporary work. This is the inspiration behind the new concept of British Jewellery Week – a series of exhibitions to be held across Great Britain, celebrating some of the best of British artist jewellers. What is also new is that it is not being launched in London, but in Hungerford at Furr and Company.
For a two-week period, from 16th to 30th June, you will be able to enjoy an irresistible array of fabulous contemporary jewellery created by some of Britain’s most exciting jewellers. Twenty-seven highly original designers from all over the country have been chosen to exhibit their latest work at Furr and Company – established and well-respected names, many of whom have work in major national and international museums and collections, side-by-side with young, raw talent eager for recognition and future patronage.
Collectively they make a stunningly varied and exciting show – displaying the latest modern concepts in design underpinned by the strength of traditional goldsmithing skills. The initial selection of designers was a challenge – there is such a wealth of designers in this country, but Greg and Rachel Furr have endeavoured to find something to suit all tastes – from the cutting-edge and flamboyant to the classically inspired.
